A second visit to Cueta
YESTERMORROW” (an Erasmus project partnership comprising of six European schools), four Year 10 students: James, Connor , Alisha and Anna, had the opportunity to visit Abyla School in Ceuta (North Africa). “YESTERMORROW” incorporates aspects of history (= yesterday) and ICT/maths (=tomorrow) to enable students to improve their basic and advanced skills. The project also encourages students to interact with one another and to build on their communication and language skills, which are fundamental in today’s interconnected world.
During the week, students from each country delivered a presentation on WWII and Pythagorean Theorem coding. This incorporated elements of both History and Maths and required students to develop their team working, presentation, organisation and time management skills. There was also a Coding workshop where students created their very own app.
As well as student presentations, teachers also had to deliver individual presentations around the topic ‘Safe Places’. This was an opportunity for staff to share good practices and discuss different approaches.
Day trips to Chefchaouen in Morocco and Caliphal Gate in Ceuta allowed students to learn about the local history and culture.
Students and staff also enjoyed the chance to go kayaking and paddle surfing in the Med on the final day. The students really enjoyed the trip and definitely embraced Spanish cuisine – eating tapas and octopus!
