Improvement at A Level for the Fourth Successive Year for Marriotts Students

Celebration is in the air yet again for Marriotts students as they celebrate their recent Level 3 qualifications which show further improvement compared to last year’s results, representing a fourth consecutive year of increases in grades. We are all thrilled with our student’s achievements and are very impressed with the diligence and excellent approach to learning that they have displayed to earn their outstanding results.

50% of all grades achieved were A* – A or equivalent
80% of all grades achieved were A* – C or equivalent
The average grade that students achieved was a B or equivalent

All Year 13 students wishing to study at degree level have been successful in obtaining their place at their chosen University.

Assistant Head teacher for Sixth Form, Mike Winter stated “I am so proud of all our students, they are a credit to the school and their families. It has been so pleasing to see our students achieve their best and move on to the next stage of their lives. We wish all of our leavers every success in the future.”

Sixth form numbers continue to rapidly increase at Marriotts School and we are proud of the vibrant community that we have become. We would like to congratulate every single individual for their personal success whilst mentioning the following students in particular:

Junior Kotomah achieved 3 ‘A’ grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. He is taking up his place at St Andrews to study Medicine. Junior said “Marriotts Sixth Form has helped me to achieve the next step on my journey to become a doctor; I am now able to follow my dream. I would like to thank this school and my teachers for the support and guidance they have given me, I will always remember Marriotts School.”

Head Girl, Katie Moore achieved top grades including 2 ‘A’ grades; she will be going on to study English Literature and German at the University of Nottingham.

After achieving some fantastic A-level results, Jordan Southern will be attending the Royal Academy of Dance to study ‘Ballet Education’ working towards her goal of becoming a teacher.

Following some great results Ellen Turner has been successful in securing her place at UEL to study Criminology and Psychology. Leigh Turner is undertaking an apprenticeship at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

Christopher Bacchus successfully achieved his University offer to study Sports Science at the University of Greenwich.

Tanicha Heggs and Chelsea Cogdell have fulfilled their goal to study Physical Education at the University of Brighton by achieving excellent grades in their level 3 courses.

Inisi Ajazi achieved Top A Level grades and will be studying Chemistry at Liverpool University.

Lewis McQueen will be attending Nottingham Trent University to study Civil Engineering after successfully achieving top grades in all his A-Levels.

After achieving impressive results, Head Boy, Sean Wedgwood will be studying Business Management and Marketing at the University of Surrey.

Tabitha Weller will be attending Leeds Beckett University to continue her passion, studying Performing Arts.

Alkida Dara has been successful in obtaining her place at Birmingham City University to study Law.

A Level English teacher, Tiffany Demetriou said “It is wonderful to see the success of our sixth form at Marriotts School, we have seen so many of our students so pleased with their results and heading to their first choice of university.”

Bethany Honnor, who has been Head teacher at Marriotts for four years said “I am delighted that yet again our Marriotts A Level students have outdone themselves and that there are so many examples of success. I am incredibly grateful to our teachers, families, students and community for the effort that they put in day in and day out in order to achieve such impressive results.”

“Year on year we strive to develop and further improve so that our students can flourish and move on happily to the next stage of their lives. I am confident that our Sixth form, which Ofsted recognised as ‘Good’, is affording our students every opportunity that they need to thrive. I am sure students and their families are as excited as I am with these better than ever results and I hope that they celebrate them and continue to demonstrate our Marriotts ethos of Aim High, Work Hard, Be Kind as they take their exciting next steps.”
