I hope you are well. As you are aware yesterday the national strategy to manage the Coronavirus outbreak changed. The key things to note are:
- If any family member or household member displays symptoms of the Coronavirus (new persistent dry cough or high temperature), then all family or household members must self-isolate for 14 days. This means that if you have several siblings in the school and one of them, or indeed a parent is self-isolating, then the whole family must self-isolate for the entire 14 day period.
- All of us should implement social distancing and avoid unnecessary mass gatherings.
- Certain vulnerable groups, including the elderly, those who are pregnant, those whose immune systems are compromised or those who have existing critical conditions are advised to self-isolate for a period of 12 weeks.
At present schools remain open and our contingency plans previously outlined continue to develop. Obviously the new 14 day self-isolation requirement will have a significant impact on both student attendance and staff attendance and so we will keep you updated with any changes as they occur.
Following the Prime Minister’s speech yesterday I expect to receive further guidance from HCC today and I will, therefore, send a more detailed communication through to parents by the end of the day.
Until then, thank you for your ongoing support and understanding at this difficult time.
Ms B Honnor
