Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you are well. As you are aware yesterday the national strategy to manage the Coronavirus outbreak changed. The key things to note are:

  1. If any family member or household member displays symptoms of the Coronavirus (new persistent dry cough or high temperature), then all family or household members must self-isolate for 14 days. This means that if you have several siblings in the school and one of them, or indeed a parent is self-isolating, then the whole family must self-isolate for the entire 14 day period.
  2. All of us should implement social distancing and avoid unnecessary mass gatherings.
  3. Certain vulnerable groups, including the elderly, those who are pregnant, those whose immune systems are compromised or those who have existing critical conditions are advised to self-isolate for a period of 12 weeks.

At present schools remain open and our contingency plans previously outlined continue to develop. Obviously the new 14 day self-isolation requirement will have a significant impact on both student attendance and staff attendance and so we will keep you updated with any changes as they occur.

Following the Prime Minister’s speech yesterday I expect to receive further guidance from HCC today and I will, therefore, send a more detailed communication through to parents by the end of the day.

Until then, thank you for your ongoing support and understanding at this difficult time.

Kind regards,

Ms B Honnor
