Marriotts Sixth Form Newsletter
Marriotts Sixth Form is Good!
We are pleased to announce that after another recent inspection from the LA, Marriotts Sixth form has been graded as good. It is great that both staff and student’s continued efforts are being recognised and as a whole have developed and improved as a sixth form. The sixth form is continuing to grow in size as well as grow closer together.
The journey to university is well underway. Several students have already sent off applications and we are already receiving offers. This is great news for our year 13 students as we hope to follow up from last years 100% success rate. To aid with this, after school intervention is being implemented for all students that are not currently at their ALPS targets.
Charity Work & Halloween Party
As many of our year 13 students are part of The Gambia Project, charity work and fundraising has continued to be a great way to spread the awareness of the project as well as help students pay for the resources needed to build when they get out there. Most recent events have included the Halloween party, firework night and a staff car wash. Keep an eye out for the Christmas party they are organising!
Marriotts Extra drop down day
As part of the Marriotts Extra enrichment programme, both year 12 and 13 were involved in a well structured drop down day to help develop life skills and provide further advice and guidance to our students. The day was compiled of topical debates on hot issues developing research and communication skills, a careers fair, guest speakers from Universities, the fire department and other public sector workers, a personal statement drop in clinic and a study skills workshop. The day was both enjoyable and educational for all with a lot of students asking for a similar event to be arranged again
