MCR Pathways

Young Herts Talent is a mentoring programme from MCR Pathways. It is designed to help young people unlock their potential. The mentoring programme is proven to increase young peoples’ confidence, identify aspirations and to create positive relationships with their peers, all whilst supporting their progression onto a positive destination after leaving school.

  • In Years 7 & 8 our full-time MCR Pathway Coordinator runs weekly group work sessions for selected students, covering topics such a relationship building and teamwork, resilience, and health and wellbeing.
  • In Years 9 to 13 young people on the programme progress to being matched with their own 1:1 volunteer mentor from the local community, based on their interests and career aspirations, in order to help them realise their skills and discuss future aspirations.

The Mentors meet with their student once a week and commit to at least one full academic year of mentoring, with the aim of the student and mentor relationship continuing until the student leaves school, either after GCSEs or Sixth Form.

In being part of the MCR programme, we believe students will receive the additional encouragement and support they need to help them maximise their potential throughout their time at Marriotts.

Mentors spend an hour each week listening to and encouraging a young person in their school. The relationship that develops is what makes the difference. Can you    help a young person to build their confidence and discover their potential?
