Careers

Our Careers Programme

"Pupils receive high-quality, impartial careers advice and guidance. This includes the opportunity for them to receive mentoring from a trained team. As a result, pupils make informed choices related to options, careers and employment and this leads to good progress in their lessons." Ofsted

Marriotts School seeks to maximise the life chances of all of our students and so it is crucial to prepare young people for life beyond school.

Our vision for Careers Guidance at Marriotts is:

•To build a high-quality careers system that will help our young people choose the career that is right for them.

•To provide the highest quality careers provision, adopting the Government’s required Gatsby Benchmarks.

•To support our students to gain the confidence and motivation that they need to prepare for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences ahead as they make a successful transition to adulthood.

The school aims to meet the needs of all students so the programme will be differentiated to ensure progression through activities that are appropriate to students’ stages of career learning, planning and development.

Careers Co-ordinator - Miss Carly Wright (c.wright@marriotts.herts.sch.uk) 01438 726999 ext 280.

Measuring the impact

Our carers plan is reviewed annually within Marriotts and the effectiveness of the plan is measured against the Gatsby Benchmark using the CEC Compass tracking tool termly. Compass is a tool for schools and colleges in England that supports schools to evaluate their careers activity against the eight benchmarks of best practice - known as the Gatsby Benchmarks. The tool was built in partnership with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation.

If you wish to read the Compass reports, please contact Miss Carly Wright on the email address above.

The impact of the Careers Programme is tracked using Unifrog software so we can track the experience each student receives over their time at Marriotts. Throughout the year, students, parents and local employers and education providers will be asked for their input via questionnaires.
