Teacher of PE
At Marriotts our vision is for every single student to exceed their potential and to leave us with the qualifications, skills and attitudes that they need to move on to the next stage of their lives.
Marriotts is a high-achieving, Ofsted-rated 'Good' school with a clear vision: to enable every student to exceed their potential and leave with the qualifications, skills, and attitudes necessary for future success. The school prides itself on its ethos of "Aim high, work hard, be kind" and is supported by a dedicated team of teachers and leaders committed to delivering high-quality education.
PE is one of the most popular subjects at Marriotts, with a significant number of students opting for examination courses at both Level 2 and Level 3. The department consistently achieves strong results, reflecting both the commitment of our staff and the enthusiasm of our students.
We are currently looking to appoint a Teacher of PE to join our outstanding PE Faculty. This is a full-time permanent appointment, from 1st September 2025, or earlier by agreement.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across the following courses:
- Core PE (KS3 & KS4)
- Level 2 BTEC Tech Award in Sport
- Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Sport & Physical Activity
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the school’s comprehensive extracurricular programme, which includes a wide range of competitive and recreational sporting activities. The ability to support and coach teams in school and local competitions is essential.
The extracurricular provision within the PE department is extensive and plays a vital role in fostering student engagement and achievement beyond the classroom. Marriotts runs a highly successful Sports Leaders programme, which provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills through coaching, officiating, and organising events for both primary and secondary school pupils. The school also has a comprehensive fixtures programme, competing in a wide range of district, county, and national competitions across multiple sports, including football, netball, basketball, athletics, cricket, rounders, swimming, and trampolining. Additionally, students benefit from an array of extracurricular clubs, catering to all abilities and interests, from recreational participation to elite performance pathways. This well-structured and inclusive programme reflects the department’s commitment to developing well-rounded, confident, and resilient young people through sport.
To support high-performing athletes, Marriotts offers an Elite Performer Programme, designed to nurture and develop students competing at county, regional, and national levels. This programme provides tailored support, including specialist coaching, strength and conditioning sessions, sports psychology workshops, and mentorship to help student-athletes balance their academic and sporting commitments. The programme aims to ensure that talented individuals are given the best possible opportunities to excel in both their sport and education.
The core purpose of the role of Teacher of PE is focused on the quality of education. The successful candidate will promote, support and develop an environment in which students are motivated to learn. They will play a key role in raising standards of academic achievement, and in enabling students’ personal and social development. With passion and enthusiasm for sport and inspiring and motivating students, the successful candidate will have strong relevant qualifications alongside the sporting ability to be able to teach PE and have an enthusiasm and willingness to embrace additional extra-curricular activities, including both programmes in school and the local community competitive fixtures. This role is integral to the School's aim of ensuring that 'every lesson, every day is good or better'.
The PE department benefits from outstanding facilities, including:
- A 3G pitch
- An Olympic-standard Gymnastics and Trampolining Centre
- A large Sports Hall
- Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGA)
- A fully equipped fitness suite
With a strong commitment to participation and excellence, the department fosters an environment where all students are encouraged to engage in sport, whether for competition, fitness, or enjoyment.
